Health & Safety in Graphic Design
The maximum hours that you can work is 48 hours. HoweveIf you are 18 or over and wish to work more than 48 hours a week, you can choose to opt out of the 48 hour limit. This must be voluntary and in writing. It can't be an agreement with the whole workforce.
You shouldn't be sacked or unfairly treated (for example refused promotion or overtime) for refusing to sign an opt-out.
You can cancel your opt-out agreement whenever you want - even if it is part of your employment contract. However, you must give your employer at least seven days notice. This could be longer (up to three months) if you previously agreed this in writing with your employer.
Your employer is not allowed to force you to cancel your opt-out agreement.
Example of opt-out agreementI [name] agree that I may work for more than an average of 48 hours a week. If I change my mind, I will give my employer [amount of time - up to three months] notice in writing to end this agreement.

Qualifications Needed
Many graphic designers have some form of HND or degree level qualification in an area of design in order to gain sound knowledge of art/design history and techniques. In order to study at this level, a foundation course often has to be completed. However, job offers are often based on experience and portfolios. This means that a degree or HND is not always required; however, work experience is almost essential as is a portfolio.
Skills
Obviously, graphic designers must demonstrate creative flair and drawing ability. They also have to be:Meticulous when it comes to detail and accuracyEnthusiasticWell-disciplined (especially if they work freelance)FlexiblePatientOrganisedTeam playerAnd possess good communication and presentation skills.

The Hours
Graphic designers typically work fulltime, i.e. 35 to 40 hours a week. Start and finish times can be fairly flexible to aid creativity and the hours will vary depending on projects and deadlines. It is uncommon to work part-time due to the competitive nature of the industry.Graphic design is a largely office-based profession and involves long periods spent in front of a computer. However, most graphic designers are based in studios. Many jobs involve teamwork so team meetings and evaluations ensure a lively working atmosphere. Some jobs may also involve travel to visit clients although longer business trips are uncommon. It is usual to work freelance after gaining some years’ experience working in-house or for an agency, and freelancers may share studio/office space or work from home.
The Pay
Graduate/Trainee salaries are typically £11,000 - £18,000 according to Prospects, March 2008. These salaries may increase to £25,000 - £45,000 for senior designers after 10 years' experience and creative directors can earn as much as £65,000. Experienced freelancers tend to earn up to £40 per hour. However, these salaries vary greatly depending on the individual designer, location and sector.Of course, higher paying jobs can be found in larger cities and in-house jobs tend to pay more than agency or freelance jobs although the work can be more restrictive in terms of creativity. Many designers prefer agency work because of the diversity of projects and creative freedom.

litter campaign

The purpose of this image if to let people know the difference that bins can make. like in the picture, The side with the bin looks a nice and clean environment which is very colourful and bright. The Other side however is very dull and messy as its covered with bits of litter and rubble and it wouldnt be a nice place to stay in or live near.
My Litter Brief
I though this idea would be good to be aimed at high school students age 14- 18 years old and I though what better way to do it about a school were we spend most of our young adult life, the impact litter makes can really make a difference if We would just put it in the bin, the place would be such a much nicer place to live in; I mean would you want to attend this school? Because I know I defiantly would not. I know that it must include the tag line ‘LITTER: there’s No Excuse the Falkirk council logo and the web address I have still to add that all in.

Graphic Designer Information
Qualifications
Unlike other areas of design, graphic designers can often trade on their talent, ideas and portfolio as much, if not more, than formal academic qualifications. Nonetheless, most professional graphic designers study to higher national diploma (HND), foundation degree or degree level in graphic design or a related art or design based subject.
All foundation degree, HND and degree courses are listed, along with entry requirements and course descriptions, on the UCAS website.
Work, skills and salaries
As a rough guide, expect starting salaries for a graphic designer to be around £15,000 a year, rising to between £20,000 and £30,000 for more senior positions. Very experienced and successful graphic designers can earn £50,000 and above in creative director roles. Graphic designers work at design consultancies, as in-house designers at non-design companies and as freelancers, and on average work normal office hours. Salaries vary depending on geographical location, but jobs are concentrated in major cities and in London in particular.
The goal of the graphic designer is effective communication. The particular objectives of a piece of visual communication will be set by a client’s brief and may be rigidly commercial – such as ‘help us sell more products’ - or may be artistic and aesthetic – such as ‘create a feeling of trustworthiness around our company’. Good graphic design often achieves both aesthetic and commercial objectives.

Graphic Design Is About: Mixing creativity with functionality, and designing pieces of artwork to convey a specific message. By and large, graphic design is a commercial twist on traditional artistic disciplines, whereby a client commissions a designer to work on a project to a particular brief, often for advertising and branding purposes, but also for the packaging and labeling products.
