Graphic design is a key part of the media revolution that continues to impact on every area of modern day living. From the internet to mobile phones, from interactive television to DVD interface design, the demand for graphic design professionals in the modern information-rich environment is well established.
Providing opportunities for investigation into all areas of screen based visualisation is a key part of the graphic design process and nearly £100k worth of investment to re-equip computer labs means that our work is cutting edge.
Use of programs such as Dreamweaver and Flash, Premier, Photoshop, Freehand, Encore and After Effects provide the tools for staff and students to undertake many varied projects. The programme team can offer combined industry experience gained from running their own businesses, publishing and television backgrounds.
Set briefs in web design, animation, vector illustration, photography and video editing means that the graphic design programme has a lot to offer external clients. Forging links with local business has led to staff and students being engaged on design-based projects for Gateway Scotland, and the Merchant City Initiative. Industry guidance also comes from contacts within BBC Scotland and Pointsize Design Associates.
