Entry Requirements:
You will normally need to have at least one of the following:
a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in an appropriate area
an AVCE/GNVQ in an appropriate vocational area
a GCE A Level profile which demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or an adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at level A-C
other related Level 3 qualification

Description:
Edexcel BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Graphic Design is specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body requirements and with a strong work related emphasis. The HNC provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the graphic design industry and its wide recognition by employers allows progression directly into employment. This programme offers a through introduction to the key areas of graphic design preparing students for a wide range of careers. Students will be given an opportunity to explore different areas of art and graphic design including contextual referencing, digital imaging, typography, drawing techniques and idea generation techniques. A range of assessment methods is used including coursework, projects, presentations and time constrained assignments. The course will be assessed through both practical and theoretical assignments, such as creative projects, presentations, reports and group work
Progression:
This course will prepare graduates for a wide range of graphic design careers, such as freelance artist or designer, in-house designer, teacher, creative work in related media or public sector, work in museums and galleries. Graduates can also progress onto further study on the BTEC HND in Graphic Design or a relevant Bachelor degree.
